Mini-World Needle Felting

Saturday, October 12 from 9 AM- Noon

Make a scene of your choosing small enough to fit in a teacup! We'll provide the tools, fiber, and know-how. You can bring a fancy teacup or we'll provide a simple glass dessert cup. $35 includes materials and use of equipment.

MadTown Yarn Shop Hop

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday October 18- 20 (regular hours Fri/Sat and 10 AM- 4 PM on Sunday)

This will be a great event all around the Madison area. We'll have sales, specials, and door prizes. you'll also be able to pick up a stamp-card at any of the shops that you fill and turn in to your last shop to get in the drawing for 1 of several prize baskets depending on how many shops you visit!

Scaredy Steeks Finishing Class

Wednesday, October 23 from 6- 8 PM

Want some help finishing your yoke sweater? Melissa will bring her sewing machine to the shop and help get your steek sewn and cut. We may add a 2nd night depending on how many people sign up. Of course, Melissa will share finishing tips and tricks along the way! $15.

Hand-Dyeing Workshop

Saturday, October 26 from 9 AM- 1 PM

Learn several ways of dyeing yarn to get the effect you want. We'll play with handpainting, gradients, kettle dyeing, and more. You will also learn more about how colors work together and what a yarn will look like when it is knit. $40 plus cost of yarn to dye.

Beginning Knitting

Wednesdays, November 6, 13, and 20 from 6:30- 8 PM

Learn how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off while you make a basket-weave scarf. $45 includes pattern and practice yarn.

Intro to Rigid-Heddle Weaving

Saturday, November 9 from 9 AM- Noon

This is a beginning weaving class. You will learn how to warp a Cricket loom and weave a scarf. $30 for the class plus the cost of yarn (we'll have you pick something out when you sign up.) A Cricket loom can be rented for $20/month if you do not own one. This rental fee may be applied to the purchase of a loom in the future.

Christmas Stocking

Tuesdays, November 19 and December 3 from 6:30- 8 PM

Knit an heirloom! The Nancy Lindberg Christmas Sock pattern is extremely versatile and is done with stranded knitting motifs and an after-thought heel. There is a lot to learn about charts, customizing, duplicate stitch, and more! $30 plus pattern and either worsted or bulky weight yarn for your stocking.

Intro to Brioche

Wednesday, December 4 from 6- 8 PM

The basic workings of this intriguing technique will be revealed. Brioche stitch yields a very cushy reversible fabric, which we will create in two colors. $20, bring 2 colors of a medium weight yarn, and needles appropriate for that yarn.


Open Dye Day

Saturday, December 7 from 10 AM- 4 PM

Would you like to play with dye? Want someone else to do the prep work and cleanup? Drop by The Cat and Crow back room today to dye a skein of yarn, a silk scarf, or some roving. Dye experience preferred but not necessary. $10 (for each pound of fiber or up to 4 skeins). Yarn and fiber to dye will be available for purchase.

Annual Cat and Crow PJ Party

Friday, December 13 from 5- 11 PM

Come and knit the night away at The Cat and Crow. Melissa and Rebecca will be happy to help you progress on any holiday projects you have. We'll also serve you drinks and popcorn and join in the knitting and crochet. Bring a favorite snack or sweet treat if you 'd like. FREE.

Good Clean Fun

Saturday, December 14 from 10 AM- 2 PM

(Drop-in; will take about 15-30 minutes)

This is a make-and-take. We will show you how to make felt over some fabulous Jangle Soapworks scented soap. They make great gifts! All ages are welcome. $10 includes instructions, fiber, and 1 bar of soap; more materials can be purchased (soap squares are $8 each.)

Cookie Exchange

Tuesday, December 17 from 6- 8 PM

Join us for last minute knitting and crochet and put together a fun plate of assorted cookies to take home too! You bring 2 dozen cookies of one variety and take home 2 dozen different cookies to keep or give as a gift. (Hopefully this will save baking time for all of us, so there is more time for knitting, of course!) FREE, RSVP please.

Needle-Felt Ornament

Saturday, December 21 from 10 AM- 1 PM

(sign up for 1 hour time slot-there will be spots for drop-in)

This isa  make-and-take. We will help you use your creativity and our tools to make a great gift. No experience required; open to kids (8 and up) and adults. $10 includes 1 blank ornament, instruction, and use of everything you need for embellishment. (More blank ornaments may be available at $8 each.)
