To sign up for a class, you can email, call, or stop in the shop. Most classes are run with 2-6 students.


Please let us know if you have a particular class/technique you'd like us to teach; we are always open to suggestions. Also, private classes are available, just ask!

3rd Annual Cat and Crow Community Hat Exchange

Saturday, January 25 at 3 PM and follow-up on March 7 at 3 PM

This is such a fun event; we are hosting it again! You will get to meet new people, play with yarn you didn't buy, and maybe try a a new technique or two. Bring a pattern, appropriate yarn, and your head measurement to put into a lunch sack. Then pick out a different hat project to knit or crochet for someone else; you won't know who your recipient is until we exchange finished hats in March! (You must commit to finishing a hat by March 7th; but if you can't make it on that Saturday you can turn in your finished hat in at the shop ahead of time.) FREE.

Stranding Knitting

Saturday, March 7 from 9 AM- Noon

In this class you will learn classic stranded knitting with 2 colors, using an assortment of beautiful patterns for stranded hats.  You'll need to knit the ribbed brim before class starts, so we can get to the learning part right away! We'll make a kit for you based on the pattern and colors you choose. $30 plus cost of kit ($15) and pattern.  

Sundae Socks, Cuff-down

Wednesdays March 11, 18, 25 from 6:30- 8 PM

This is a beginning sock class. Learn how to knit socks from the cuff down. You'll have a choice of double point or long circular needles. The pattern we are using will have fun options for cuffs and heels! If you know how to knit in the round you will be ready for this fun class. $50 includes pattern.

Intro to Brioche

Saturday, March 14 from 10 AM- Noon

The basic workings of this intriguing technique will be revealed. Brioche stitch yields a very cushy reversible fabric, which we will creat in tow colors. $20; bring 2 colors of a medium weight yarn and needles appropriate for that yarn.

Hand-dyeing Workshop

Saturday, March 21 from 9 AM- 1 PM

Learn several ways of dyeing yarn to get the effect you want. We'll play with hand painting, gradients, kettle dyeing, and more. you will also learn more about how colors work together and what a yarn will look like when it is knit. $40 plus cost of yarn to dye.

Magical Mosaic Shawl

Saturday, March 28 from 9 AM- Noon

Learn this fun and popular technique for knitting with 2 colors. It looks more complicated than it is! You only knit with 1 color in each row. You'll learn new kinds of slipped stitches to create the intricate-looking texture of the shawl. Check out all the finished ones on Ravelry to get inspired-Frieze Shawl by Lisa Hannes. $30 plus pattern.  

Beginning Knitting

Tuesdays, March 31, April 7 and 13 from 6:30- 8 PM 

Learn how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off while you make a basket-weave scarf. $45 includes pattern and practice yarn.

Open Dye Day

Saturday, April 4 from 10 AM- 4 PM

Would you like to play with dye? Want someone else to do the prep work and cleanup? Drop by The Cat and Crow back room today to dye a skein of yarn, a sock blank, or some roving. $10 (for each pound of fiber or up to 4 skeins). Yarn and fiber to dye will be available for purchase. 

Community Projects Work Day

Saturday, April 11 from 10 AM- 3 PM

We'll be working on quick projects for others with scrap yarns and fun patterns. Bring some needles and left-over yarns; we will have a bunch of yarn, patterns, and snacks. Pattern options will be knitted and crocheted critters, pocket pals, and baby blankets. FREE

Intro to Rigid-Heddle Weaving

Saturday, April 18 from 9 AM- Noon

This is a beginning weaving class. You will learn how to warp a Cricket loom and weave a scarf. $30 for the class plus the cost of yarn (we'll have you pick something out when you sign up). A Cricket loom can be rented for $20/month if you do not own one. This rental fee may be applied to the purchase of a loom in the future.
