We try to stay 2 months ahead with our schedule! 


To sign up for a class, you can email, call, or stop in the shop. Most classes are run with 2-6 students.


Please let us know if you have a particular class/technique you'd like us to teach; we are always open to suggestions. Also, private classes are available, just ask!

Basic Hat

Wednesdays, January 15 and 22 form 6:30- 8 PM

Want to jump from scarves and dishcloths to so much more? In this class you will learn how to knit in the round on circular needles. We'll also cover reading patterns, stitch gauge, different hat cuffs, and different decreasing options to close up the top of your hat. $35 includes pattern.

Hand-Dyeing Workshop

Saturday, January 18 from 9 AM- 1 PM

Learn several ways of dyeing yarn to get the effect you want. We'll play with hand painting, gradients, kettle dyeing, and more. You will also learn more about how colors work together and what a yarn will look like when it is knit. $40 plus cost of yarn to dye.

3rd Annual Cat and Crow Community Hat Exchange

Saturday, January 25 at 3 PM and follow-up on March 7 at 3 PM

This is such a fun event; we are hosting it again! You will get to meet new people, play with yarn you didn't buy, and maybe try a a new technique or two. Bring a pattern, appropriate yarn, and your head measurement to put into a lunch sack. Then pick out a different hat project to knit or crochet for someone else; you won't know who your recipient is until we exchange finished hats in March! (You must commit to finishing a hat by March 7th; but if you can't make it on that Saturday you can turn in your finished hat in at the shop ahead of time.) FREE.

Seamed Sweaters: Choose Your Own Adventures

Tuesdays, January 28 and February 4 and 18

This class is designed to help you either launch your first sweater, or to challenge you with a garment design that isn’t worked in one piece. We will cover pattern reading and interpretation, sweater fit, construction and finishing (seaming and necklines, etc). This is a pick your own pattern class; we can provide suggestions, both basic and more advanced. $45 plus pattern. Prerequisites: you must know how to knit, purl, increase and decrease.

Tomte Hat Decorating

Saturday, February 1 form 10 AM- Noon at The Old Schoolhouse

Add another dimension to the Scandihoovian Winter Festival by embellishing your Tomte hat with needle-felting. Have fun and get creative, no experience necessary! Children are welcome with adult supervision. $2 fee covers materials and instruction; hats will be available for $10 if you don't already have one.

Open Dye Day

Saturday, February 8 from 10 AM- 4 PM

Would you like to play with dye? Want someone else to do the prep work and cleanup? Drop by The Cat and Crow back room today to dye a skein of yarn, a silk scarf, or some roving. Dye experience preferred but not necessary. $10 (for each pound of fiber or up to 4 skeins). Yarn and fiber to dye will be available for purchase.

Sunday Socks, Cuff-down

Wednesdays March 11, 18, 25 from 6:30-8 PM

This is a beginning sock class. Learn how to knit socks from the cuff down. You'll have a choice of double point or long circular needles. The pattern we are using will have fun options for cuffs and heels! If you know how to knit in the round you will be ready for this fun class. $50 includes pattern.

Intro to Brioche

Saturday, March 14 from 10 AM- Noon

The basic workings of this intriguing technique will be revealed. Brioche stitch yields a very cushy reversible fabric, which we will creat in tow colors. $20; bring 2 colors of a medium weight yarn and needles appropriate for that yarn.
